Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind Book Review
Positioning was my first marketing book. I had expected number crunching and data analytics techniques. However, much of the advice was grounded in psychology.
This book gave me a deeper understanding of a buyer’s psyche and how a user’s perception differed from the people creating the product. This book again reminded me how important it is to get out of your own thoughts and touch reality.
A prospect recently asked me, “How is your product different from all the other tools?” I realized that we had no chance in this market if we did not differentiate. This book helped me answer that question.
One cannot decide their position without a thorough analysis of their competitors. So I doubled down to find the hole that we need to fill. Although I have not yet found our position at the time of this review, I feel confident that we’ll find our opportunity.
